Every Hero Has a Story
June 15 - July 25, 2015


This summer, discover that every hero has a story at the Summer Reading Program! Sign up now at Youth Services.

Read anything you like: books, magazines, newspapers, and more. Listen to audiobooks. Listen while someone reads to you. Earn prizes for the number of hours that you read.

Children: 25 hours = a prize

Adults: 30 hours = a prize

Fill out a reading log at the library's Youth Services desk to record your hours. The last day to record hours is July 25, 2015.

Every Duck Has a Tale

Help us promote the Summer Reading Program by taking a super hero rubber duckie on an adventure! Pick up your rubber duckie at the Youth Services desk. Take a picture of your duckie on his heroic adventure and post it to your social media account, #heroduckie. Tag the library (@MichiganCityPublicLibrary on Facebook, @MCPublicLibrar1 on Twitter) to share your duckie with our friends.

Summer Story Time
Story TimeWednesdays, 10:00 am

Summer Story Time continues every Wednesday at 10:00 am. Children and their grown-ups will enjoy stories, songs, and crafts during this time designed for parent/guardian and child interaction. Please arrive a few minutes early to receive a name tag. For ages birth-5 years, with an adult.

Summer Reading Program Movie: Batman (original 1966 film)

Batman and Robin battle the combined forces of four supercriminals who have stolen an invention and intend to use it maliciously. Starring Adam West and Burt Ward. Rated PG. Light refreshments provided. All children 18 years and under will have a chance to enter a raffle to win the DVD. Must be present to win.

Summer Reading Program Movie: Chicken Little

After mistaking an acorn for a piece of falling sky, Chicken Little has caused mass panic and his name is now mud. When he and his misfit group of friends find a real piece of fallen sky he must restore his reputation and save the world! Rated G. Light refreshments will be served and those 18 years and younger will have a chance to win a DVD copy of the movie. Must be present to win.

Summer Reading Program Grand Finale: The Art of Inflation
Balloon-dude DaleThursday, July 30, 10:00 am

The Art of Inflation is an interactive one-man comedy balloon show. Magical Balloon-dude Dale will amaze us with the balloon transformations that he can create in choreographed routines set to music. The comedy, choreography, and interactivity of the show send kids into creativity overdrive!
